When you register a domain, you are requested to give a valid address, email account and telephone as per the policy approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. This information, though, is not kept only by the registrar company, but is visible to the public on WHOIS sites too, so anybody can view your info and a lot of people may not be okay with this. As a consequence, numerous registrars have launched the so-called ID Protection service, which hides the registrant’s information and upon a WHOIS lookup, people will see the details of the registrar, not the domain owner’s. This service is also popular as Privacy Protection or WHOIS Protection, but all these expressions refer to the exact same service. Today, most of the Top-Level Domains around the world allow ID Protection to be added, but there are still country-code extensions that do not support the service.

ID Protection in Website Hosting

If you have ordered a website hosting from us and you have registered one or more domains under your account, you’ll be able to activate ID Protection for any of them without any effort and to keep your private details intact. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support such an option. In your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you will notice an “ID Protect” symbol to the right of each of your domains. Its colour will show you whether a domain is protected or not and in the second case, you can enable ID Protection with just a few mouse clicks. Thus, you can protect your personal info even if you haven’t added the ID Protection service during the hosting account activation process. You’ll be able to renew or to disable the ID Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can enable our ID Protection service without any difficulty. This requires only several clicks of the mouse in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, through which you manage everything connected with your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you will see an “ID Protect” symbol, using which you can order, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-code TLD extensions that are ID Protection-eligible and you will be able to see this beforehand, so you won’t end up ordering a service that we can’t provide.
